Bird's Sake Cup

Bird's Sake Cup is a drinking cup designed to limit alcohol intake. The cup holds only 10 ml of liquor, so a drink is taken in small amounts over time. The form recalls a small bird, and the beak holds a hole sized to release the liquor slowly. Bird's Sake Cup supports people who are sensitive to alcohol and people who need to reduce alcohol consumption. The cup is made of transparent acrylic by three-dimensional printing. It measures 40 mm in width, 130 mm in height and 60 mm in depth, and weighs 35 grams.

Moon

This light plays an active role to accompany people in a working space from morning to the night. It was designed with people working environment in mind. The wire can be connected to a laptop computer or a power bank. The shape of the moon was made of three quarters of a circle as a rising icon from a terrain image made of stainless frame. The surface pattern of the moon reminds the landing guide in a space project. The setting looks like a sculpture in the daylight and a light device that comforts the tense of work at night.

Sprout

Sprout is a bicycle produced by three-dimensional printing. The frame is shaped through topology optimization, which places material only where it is needed and lowers the total amount used. Static stress analysis with the finite element method verifies the stability of the frame structure. The final model is printed in high density nylon. The bicycle measures 1630 mm in length, 600 mm in width and 832 mm in height. Printing removes the need for costly molds, so each frame can follow an individual design.

DefeXtiles

DefeXtiles is a technique for producing thin, flexible textiles on standard 3D printers. The method controls under-extrusion so that small globs form with fine strands between them. The resulting periodic gaps give the printed fabric a textile-like appearance, breathability, flexibility and stretch, even with rigid materials such as polylactic acid. The textiles are printed perpendicular to the print bed, so pleated and curved forms can be made. Applications include garments, tangible interfaces and shuttlecocks. Conductive filament can embed circuit traces in the fabric.

LumiBee

LumiBee is a compact resin 3D printer designed for home use. The printer uses light curable liquid resin and the screen of a mobile phone, which is inserted inside the device, as the light source. A control application slices the digital model into horizontal sections that are shown on the screen, and the light solidifies the resin layer by layer. About 95 percent of the parts of LumiBee can be produced with a low cost filament 3D printer. The structure is modular, and each segment has a specific function and can be customized.

Yinyun

Yinyun is a ceramic art installation composed of 85 unique 3D printed units. Generative design algorithms were used to extract electric data and to visualize the data on every unit, together creating a gradient effect. The units were fabricated by ceramic 3D printing, using a mixture of white porcelain and coal ash recycled from a power plant. The printing process also creates a detailed surface relief on each piece. No two units are alike. The installation is permanently placed in an exhibition hall in Taipei, Taiwan.
